Our History

In 1854, Honoria Conway and companions established the SCIC in Saint John, New Brunswick. The community became the first English-speaking, Roman Catholic religious congregation founded in Canada. The sisters' living heritage embraces the person and gospel of Jesus, as expressed through the spirituality of Saints Vincent de Paul, Louise de Marillac and Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Their original and enduring rule of life for mission urges them “to communicate the sacred flame of God’s love.”
